The headline is not only a hook for your human readers but also for the search engine spiders. Make it compelling for both. Humans are looking for something to satisfy their interest. The search engine spiders (or robots) are looking for relevant keywords so they can properly index your site in their listings. Make it an easy, fulfilling experience for both and you’re off to a good start. 2. K.I.S.S.! Keep It Simple and Short. Content is King and should be informative, interesting and “Convert”. Your website should really only do 2 things: sell something or capture an email address. (If you can do both, that’s even better). Fancy graphics, lots of different fonts and too many colors can make the page appear cluttered or even gaudy. Too much of that stuff will distract the reader from your intention and slow down the loading of your webpage, Keep it simple, make it fast loading and make the sale or get that email address. 3. Lend credibility to your site with testimonials. If you are just starting out with a product or e-book have some of your friends try it out and get them to write honest reviews for you. If you already have satisfied customers, ASK them to send you a testimonial. Don’t be shy… If you offer a good product or service they will be happy to help you out. ALWAYS offer a money-back satisfaction guarantee. 4. Use an URL that relates to your product. An URL is a Uniform Resource Locator or the words you type in to find a website. Use Keywords in your URL. This not only keeps the URL relevant to the content but will aid in your website getting a higher ranking in the search engines. If you are using an affiliate website, you will want to register a separate domain name, build a landing page and then just use an URL redirect to forward visitors to your affiliate sales website. 5. Make use of auto responders. Studies show that MOST of the time, you will NOT make a sale on the first visit to your website. That is why you must capture the email address so you can follow-up. For this you will want to use an auto-responder. An auto responder is a systematic way to send follow-up emails to people who visited your site and left their information. Once an auto-responder system is set-up, it can easily and effortlessly follow up for you. Do a Google search for "auto responder" to find them. There are many very good deals available. 6. Make it SIMPLE for your customers to pay. The days are long gone when a customer will get an envelope, address it, put a check in it and mail it to you. Online business is done with e-commerce, using credit or bank debit cards. You can use Pay-pal, Google Checkout, or ClickBank to name a few. You might think that telling your customers exactly how to order by walking them through it step by step is akin to talking down to them, but this is exactly how it's done online. By all means direct them to "click here" when you get to the big red order button that takes them to the payment page. I like to place several of the big red order buttons along with the Visa, MC, AMEX and Pay-pal logos in at least 3 places toward the bottom of the sales letter. This give them lots of ways to pay and keeps reminding them that that is what you want them to do. 7. Offer FREE stuff even if they don’t buy on their first visit. Give them a free e-book or maybe a newsletter subscription. Something that is related to the same subject that your website deals with. In order for them to get their free gift make them fill out a form that will capture at least their first name and e-mail address. This is pure Win/Win. They get a free gift; you get an e-mail address for your auto responder campaign. To sum it all up; In order to compete in today's marketplace, your website must be of the highest quality, concise and informative. It must convert either a sale or a lead.
